Phone is a dialer and an address book built as a single app, not two. No account to sign in with, no contact sync running in the background, no data leaving the device โ dialing a number and looking someone up happen in the same screen, entirely offline.
Google ships a Phone app and a Contacts app. Fossify does too. So does almost everyone else โ two separate apps, two separate permission prompts, and a contact list that has to sync between them to work at all. Phone drops that split entirely: the dialer, the call log and the full contact list live in one app, so adding a number, naming it and calling it happen without switching screens.
It also runs completely offline. No account, no cloud contact sync, nothing phoning home to Google or anyone else โ your contacts and call history stay on the device they're stored on, which is the whole point if you're trying to degoogle a phone rather than just rearrange which company holds the same data.
No second app to install, sign into or keep in sync.
Type a number or search your contacts from the same screen โ there's no separate app to flip to first.
Add or edit a contact straight from the call log or a missed call, with everything stored locally on the device.
Dialing and looking someone up work exactly the same with the data connection off โ nothing here depends on the internet.
Real screenshots are going in these three slots as the build lands.

Google Play and the App Store are on the roadmap. Until then, this installs straight from the APK above โ you'll need to allow installs from outside the Play Store on Android.
